Underrated & Under-appreciated: 8.5/10
Though the main character, Shay Patrick Cormack, is a tad stereotyped, he’s still to be admired. Most likely few of you out there in the gaming world have ever experienced honest betrayal, let alone mis-perceived betrayal as Shay trades sides from assassin to Templar; facing off against the very people who trained and nurtured him.
Sailing combat portions return from black flag, as well as all the familiar actions one would expect from the franchise, and though the multiplayer was left out, a lot of the mechanics you would find from it have been incorporated into the campaign, such as; assassins randomly hiding in bushes waiting for you to walk by so they can attempt to kill you.
Story transitions right into the next game, Assassin’s Creed Unity; which happened to come out at the same time. We’ll leave this part out as it could spoil things for any potential late-comers. Looks good playing on an xbox one, pc or ps4. Will enjoy a nice graphic bump on newer machines, if you’re not playing the re-mastered version.
