I enjoy the show. They disappoint in the development of characters. Liam is a lawyer who no longer practices law bc he lost a political election. Gerry disappeared without explanation, and Cordell just moves on. Cordy talks as though he doesn’t know what he wants to say…you can fall asleep between words. This is at odds with his overly self assured decisions. Opening a horse counseling business is beneficial, but in such a small community? There are many more professions that would support this show better. Cordells new partner is a nice character, but would her size even qualify as a Ranger?

I just tried to watch the latest episode yesterday, January 21. It was painfully awful. I have posted before that Niecy Nash’s character is an insult to professional women everywhere. This episode was even more degrading. For decades, women were not heard by men looking at their chests instead of listening and looking them in their eyes. The character’s appearance and lines are disgusting. I fast forwarded several times before deleting the episode. This program is an insult to The Rookie, a far better program.

This has historically been a wonderful program. Lately, however, silliness is creeping in on a routine basis. Characters who were evolving with maturity are reverting to irresponsibility no befitting their age, stage or career roles. I am also a huge fan of Chicago Fire; and note this show contemplating copying the Girls on Fire program. Where is the originality? The need can be addressed with a unique method without copying.

Flash announcement: I hate reading TV. We all text, which is fantastic. And I love having a storyline featuring deaf characters and highlighting the barriers as well as the solutions. However, if you expect the audience to follow along, the written dialogue needs to be big enough to see across the room. If we have to pause the show, get up and walk across the room or stand by the TV whenever texting or written dialogue is used, it is extremely aggravating. Right now, I am choosing not to care what is being said after multiple trips to the TV.
