Now that it settled a bit, and after i played it through, i am still disappointed.
Just to be clear, it's 2.5/5 but there is no that option here, but it's kind of closer to 2 than 3 so that's what i leave as review. (more bad to say than good about the game)
Characters are (mostly) boring and bland.
Story is (mostly) lazy and too safe and predictable.
I'm really not sure why all the reviews said "return to form" because this game direction was something the "Old Bioware" would never do.
Choices are often meaningless therefore it's more of an illusion of choice than choice itself (With few exceptions), but Rook has a set story and path that can't be meaningfully deviated from. This is one of the most disappointing aspects of this entire game, taking into consideration the choices that were present in previous DA games.
Combat, although generally good can feel like a chore later in the game, since it does get repetitive and all the meaningful upgrades are unlocked around lvl30 (lvl50 is endgame)
Game is so bafflingly afraid of player curiosity. Hand-holding is omnipresent. Puzzles are way too easy, and just in case you somehow don't know what to do, companions will blatantly telegraph the solution to you. Example:
Corridor with crumbling wall and ballista in front of it. (Quite obvious what needs to be done)
Companion yells "Look! A ballista! We can use it to break that weak wall!"
Why? Why do that, we're not blind or that stupid.
Also, elephant in the room, Many of the characters in the game are "non binary" including one of the companions. It's on the nose and immersion breaking. Honest to god, there cant be more than 5 minutes in the game where you cant hear "They" in the pronoun and not in plural way.
DA was always inclusive and no one had a problem with it, but here it's just inserted lazily to pander to certain audiences, and is general self-insert of the certain people that worked on the game.
Not against inclusivity, but this is not the way it should be done. (Dorian and Krem are good examples how)
I would also like to ask other players not to avoid Taash character arc, because it's reasonably good story with Qun backing.
DAV has also cut ties with previous games.
Only thing that you can insert from previous games is:
Did the inquisition disband, create Inquisitor and whom did he/she romanced.
All in all, this is more of a Dragon Age themed Action RPG than DA itself.
Kinda like Fortnite has events with random themes.
If you are Dragon Age fan, you are most likely to be disappointed, still... You should play it, it can be enjoyable if you lower the expectations.
Also, what the f*ck did Hans Zimmer do here, music is as bland as it gets, Trevor Morris did far, faaar better job in inquisition.
I'm just baffled as to how can the composer of that caliber to such a poor job for well established world and lore.
