This guy was a retired marine and damn proud of it when I walked into an eighth grade history class. I was a pseudo hippie phish and dead head. How could I ever respect this guy? Well, I’ll tell ya, or better yet, let Mr. Viall tell you. This book recounts the stories that are familiar with many teachers or otherwise unsung hero’s of giving children a voice. Being taught that just because we are small doesn’t mean we can’t take up a proper space. This is a phenomenal read, from dolts to champions, to hard workers and slackers (me). Mr. John Viall captures your attention as he did mine, so many years ago.
