Lucy Foley is a good writer, and I rather liked the multiple first-person storytelling, but Lucy overdoes her teases of us readers: there is a dead body but she withholds not only who it is but whether it's male or female. She'd be a better writer if she trusted us -- withhold for a chapter or two, but not for almost the entire remainder of the story. If we had known who died (but not the killer), that would have added real interest and depth to the storytelling. In the end, I thought the story fell flat.
