It was good for nostalgia’s sake. Eddie is in true form as Axel. But once again, like in Coming 2 America, they tried using the same old tropes of the original movies and they fell flat. My biggest gripe is the estranged daughter. It seemed like this was her first role, she was so emotionless the entire movie. Not a very good actress. The plot of the movie felt forced, reused and rushed, like something we’ve all seen before… good cop takes down bad cop. It was great seeing all the old characters, especially Serge. Bronson Pinchot never disappoints. Rosewood, Taggart and Foley in the car together once again was great. Best part of the whole movie was when the boyfriend, can’t even remember Gordon-Levitt’s character’s name, was going through Foley’s file from Beverly Hills, and references ‘84 (BHC1), ‘87 (BHC2) and says ‘94 (BHC3) was a huge disaster. A very meta moment since BHC3 was so awful. Again, nostalgia was about all this movie was good for.
