Google might have the only honest ratings for this show. The strategic ratings manipulation of formerly good faith actors such as Rotten Tomatoes is honestly disgusting. Of course, Amazon has falsely inflated their own ratings, using tactics like delaying negative review postings, and (purportedly) negative review removals.
The show is a blatant cash-grab. Sets are blatantly reused between supposedly distinct locations, and shortcuts abound with writing and design decisions. Irrelevant plot points are shoehorned into an already weak storyline, so that Amazon can take advantage of industry bias, and so that Amazon can wring more money out of every possible market.
I discontinued my Prime membership, because I do not monetarily contribute to reprehensible projects such as this. The initial casting for this show was unconventionally brilliant, and it is a shame that the actors and actresses are giving such great efforts towards a project which is doomed to obscurity. The writing and directing is shallow, immature, and derivative. No feelings of support or empathy are engendered for the characters presented in the show.
There were plenty of opportunities to promote progressive and wholesome values with this show through the original source material, but unfortunately Rafe is not capable of conceptualizing a way to do that without writing his own inferior story.
