The female lead was the best part of the film but she had too much to do to add life and zest into a tired format . Germans, Nazis, old relics , car chase , youngster ....hat , whip. It's a bit like we don't watch old footballers playing football or old golfers and tennis players We view them fondly, but their time is up

Errol Flynn in the Adventures of Robin Hood is the standard any adventure movie must be measured by. The script , music , tempo and stars in that movie makes First Knight look plodding and of a made for TV film . Pleasant enough, but dull and lifeless , with endless cliche scenes . They can't be blamed for trying

Reviving a classic is never easy . This tired series proves that point . Has the final days of the Last of the Summer Wine about it. Too many characters and running out of story lines. As Arkwright might say , 'It's long past its sell by date '
