Paul Sheehan

The jury is still out for me on this series. I am a big fan of the Tom Thorn series, so while I sort of like the hero Declan I find him a little hard to believe. His humour is so over the top and inappropriate to the point of lacking professionalism, I thus don't find him believeable. The story itself skips along nicely, the scenes with the dance club members while enjoyable, I find myself asking would a real detective share so much information? So I guess you have to see it as a dark comedy and be happy with that.

Nicely written in many ways but too many characters introduced too quickly. This made the detective side of things hard to follow. A good atmosphere created, but a lot of detailed padding to confuse you.

I don't like that there are no paragraphs or use of inverted commas, it makes it a slightly tedioue read. There is a lot of literary merit in it, but the presentation gets in the way.
