MAGA supporter-readers of Southern Man have criticized references to Trump, etc. in this novel. They have quit reading at early stages of the tome, and have threatened to boycott future Iles novels. THEIR LOSS! The plot twists and story lines for which Iles is known for from Natchez Burning, The Bone Tree, Mississippi Blood and Cemetery Road continue deep into this current novel. I am now 500 pages into the page-turner, and I'm enjoying it just as much as the previous trilogy. As a personal descendant of Mississippi ancestry, I find Iles's research and story telling to continue to be first rate. Five stars and counting.
