I've just started watching Becker relatively recently. Having been a big Cheers fan I didn't think it would be Ted Danson's magnum opus, so I avoided it's original run. Well, it wasn't Danson's magnum opus but the character of Becker is compelling. Danson's Becker completely drives the show. There is a psychological trait known as agreeableness, which is basically like the propensity of going along to get along. Related to emotional quotient (EQ) and social graces. And given the fact that Becker is a Harvard-trained physician, bed side manner. And Becker is, hilariously, so low on the agreeableness spectrum that it's a wonder he is professionally functional. Any and every interaction with another human being sets him off. He has no patience. And it's funny. And an interesting study in that trait of agreeableness. And it drives the show.
