Tim Arnold (he him)

This is an impressive directorial debut for Zoe Kravitz. I went into it knowing very little other than “_______ is a villain” (which is pretty obvious from the trailer), and that knowledge took nothing away. The cast was fantastic and the story kept me guessing. Sure, it was al little overly stylized in some ways, but I’d didn’t bug me the way that can if not done well. My partner and I talked more about this one on our next morning dog walk than nearly any other movie of the last year. I see other reviews saying that ZK failed in trying to tackle the larger themes this movie grapples with and I disagree. I’m looking forward to seeing more from her! If I ran the zoo, I’d have cut the last five minutes, but I’m not mad they didn’t.

There is no reason whatsoever that this movie should have been this long. What a lackluster slog.

Sooooo much talking. The show was enjoyable enough for the first couple of episodes but, when the dueling monologues kick in (quoting what must be the entirety of the old testament) and don't let up for the remainder of the show you will find yourself praying for the sun to rise and burn away all these gum-flappin' pseudo-philosophers. Just shut up and bite someone for cryin' out loud! Pretty much all of my three stars are for Hamish Linklater who is always great to watch and is one of the few actors in the cast up to the challenge of delivering this many words.

A couple of interesting things absolutely buried in conspiracy theory garbage. I made up to “Kubrick faked the moon landing footage.”

Has the world ended and you‘ve stumbled across the last DVD player on earth and this movie is the only DVD that’s survived the apocalypse? Maaaaybe watch it. Maybe.

This movie made me wish we could dis-invent drones.
