Strictly average in terms of story and screenplay. Performance and direction are excellent. VFX 3 out of 5. Certain portions were not good. Especially waving the flag from chopper in a wide angle. Screenpresence of HRX, Anil Kapoor and Deepika a big plus. Could have been an excellent experience if given bit more attention to the antagonist and written it better. Few more war and fighting episodes would have brought in those goosebumps. Some scenes did had goosebumps and patriotism. Theatre watch is recommended.

A decent thriller with some solid backing of emotions. Definitely an engaging watch. Major lifting is done by Mammookka and elevated the movie during the second half. His screen presence is well utilised by MMT. Jayaram has done a subtle act and his body language is not heroic at many places. Bit more attention to the junior actors would have made a few scenes impactful. The actors from flashback episode was all done an excellent job. Anaswra Rajan once again come up with a solid performance. There is a hint for a sequel which will be a worth a wait.

It is worth a watch. No gimmicks, No lengthy dialogues, no slow-mo hero intro, no dust flying action sequences, BUT this one will still make you clap and loud whistles while watching it. The plot and the dialogues are very well crafted to stay as a social satire throughout the running time. Kasargode dialect might find difficult to understand in some scenes however overall the dialect has helped in bringing in the laugh in dialogues. Strong performance from all actors. This one is undoubtedly the career-best performance from Kunchakko Boban and hopes he will bang a state award for this one. Only one negative I can say is about the 2 back to back song placements at the beginning and also there was a rush at the start to come into the main plot which lacks some detailing during those scenes. I will rate this as the best of three from the director above Andriod Kunjappan for making such a socially relevant film flavoured with a laugh

Cold case is a crime investigation thriller placed with 2 plots, crime and horror. The crime investigation parts are mostly engaging and thrilling. However the major set back is the horror plot which in terms shifting the overall focus and plot of the movie unnecessarily. I personally didn't find any reason to have this plot other than claiming the movie to be a horror thriller. Movie doesn't offer anything new for Prithviraj to perform rather than walking around or speaking out some core forensic terms. The script is well thought and is scrutinized by the writer. DOP is excellent where the BGM is unnecessarily loud to create a horror impact. Overall would have been an excellent watch if the horror part was avoided. I am being a fan of investigation thrillers, enjoyed watching this because of its fast paced script and decent and engaging thrills.

Operation Java is one of those rare movies which will make you applause when the final cards rolling even though you don't have a bigger star cast or crew ON and OFF the screen. I was looking forward to this movie ever since the trailer was out for its sharp cuts, beautiful DOP, and an excellent BGM. I was not mistaken with Operation Java and as it has all boxes ticked with editing, DOP, BGM, and an engaging plot and a well-written screenplay. The movie is not mostly focused on any actor(s) for most of its running time and rather evolves around different plots(investigation) which are brilliantly executed to make the audiences hooked to it. Even though no lead stars on the cast, many established and talented actors are sharing screen time or doing guest appearances. This movie will be a power booster for Balu Vargheese and Lukman, two underrated actors in recent times. I will buy a ticket for Tharun Moorthy's next movie without a doubt as he is so impressive as a debut with his screenplay and direction. Even after many star-studded movies pushing releases or going OTT even after theaters are back online, the crew had the balls to get this one to the theater and pull the crowd for a Malayalam movie during this ongoing pandemic. Tamil and other South Indian languages have tried the non-established crew and pulled blockbusters 5 to 6 years back and finally, we have a solid one in Malayalam. Hope this will set a trend for many more to come.

Soorarai Pottru is one of those rare Tamil movies wherein a leading star is chosen to keep his character above his stardom. The movie is said to be an adaption of a biopic from a well-known businessman who made the budget airline a reality. The script has its cinematic exaggerations over reality to add flavors to the entertainment. Surya had to take most of the movie on his shoulders and he did it exceptionally well. He was amazing on a few scenes with his emotions and subtle acting skills. Aparna Balamurali, what a start to her career at Tamil. It was a challenging role and she had done full justice to what was required. Urvashi is another key actor alongside some good supporting casts. Excellent BGM and DOP. Well use of technologies within the limited budget and pictured a few scenes brilliantly. Excellent script and good execution from the director. You will have to ignore the biopic part while watching because it's not the same adaption of what happened in reality. They have adapted the actual incidents to cinematic poetry which can inspire you and make you spellbound when watching.

Hitting the Bulls eye.. Anjaam Paathira is a neatly packed Psycho thriller which will make you spellbound. Similar to any other modern day psycho thrillers, you have a serial killer, intelligent officer(s), and a past that justifies the killings. But what makes A.P standout from most of the other new age thrillers is its fast paced script, good characterisation, subtle acting from lead actors (no one man show) and technical brilliance. A group of policemen along with a consultant criminologist, Anwar Hussain, played by Kunchako Boban is on a mission to catch the serial killer, who is targeting on policemen. There is no doubt that this is one of the career best performance of Kunchako Boban. He did his role neat and clean. Midhun.M.Thomas is changing his route from usual slapstick comedy tracks and has delivered gripping and engaging thrills throughout. I would rather expect he chooses the same versatile route going forward. The another positives are the DOP from Shyju Khalid and the BGM. Let it be the ariel shots or the dark shades, Shyju let his camera do the talking which is much needed in a dark thriller. The movie gets rolling into the plot right from titles and immediately establishing Into the main plot. The BGM adds fear into the scenes wherever needed and the murder scenes are captured extremely well. The second half lacks some detailing when it comes to the modus operandi, however the script cover it off by its pace. The supporting actors have done an excellent job except the actress who played the commissioner. Her character could have been given to an experienced actress which is one of the loose ends you find outs in the movie. No one man show. No over dose of VFX, No lengthy mass dialogues. All you get is a 2 and half hours of cinematic experience that will stay with you for sometime even after leaving cinema halls. More than the thriller I took the drama track with me for sometime. Lot of twists and surprises along with some surprise cameos. I don't want to give you spoiler alerts. Do watch it on big screen and you won't be disappointed.
