As a Resident Evil fanatic, I found this movie mediocre at best. I was expecting a story similar but not identical to the games. I should have known from the casting of Leon and the choice to merge the first two games that this movie would not do the franchise justice. None of the characters are even close to the characters in the game that we all know and love. The story progression was confusing and choppy. The editing seems to be thrown together with quiet scenes suddenly cut to overly loud and chaotic screaming and high pitched sound effects. Overall, they promised a faithful tribute to a much-loved franchise but delivered a boring, over-hyped mess of a horror movie with no substance or depth.
