Love the Vera character and the story lines. Some have commented that the Vera in the TV series doesn’t match the Vera in the Anne Cleeves’ books but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying the series, as well as Brenda Blethyn’s interpretation of the character.
I just finished the last three series of this program, and enjoyed each episode. However, the main problem I have is that the majority of the episodes have women as the murderers. Considering that nine out 10 murderers are men (statistics in England), I can only surmise that the series’ writers are misogynists, including some of the female writers. This isn’t the only series that has too many female perpetrators.
Looking forward to season 14 but sad that the series ends.
