The Lighthouse is quite possibly the worst film I have had the displeasure of watching. Two wasted hours of Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe as two unhinged Captain Ahab-esque old salts who spend one half of the movie engaging in non-sensical blathering and the other half of the movie indulging in bizarre sexual fantasies about mermaids, Fresnel lenses and seemingly each other. The cinematography is moody and atmospheric and quite interesting and unique but it is wasted with the ridiculous non-plot. SPOILER ALERT: The scene where Pattinson viciously kills a seagull was horrific. This is an awful, artsy and literally fartsy movie that should have never seen the light (no pun intended) of day.
