Generally a great film, but it does not entirely live up the hype. The sound design and cinematography are some of the best I've ever seen; it's like some kind of messed up version of a Wes Anderson film. The acting and costumes are also incredible. If you hadn't told me Longlegs was Nicolas Cage, I wouldn't have guessed so.
Where this film gets the four star rating however is how it played out, especially towards the end. I feel like the 'reveal' or source of horror could have been better, but maybe that's my own personal preference. I feel like the 'satan worshippers bleed their way into the community' trope is a little over done, and it would have been better if Longlegs was some kind of eldritch/religious horror or cryptid that was taking the shape of a human or something like that. A mixture of realistic crime and monster/body horror would have been a fantasticly unite experience.
Overall the film is remarkably well done and the only flaw I can really find is a very slightly underwhelming turn in the story near the end.
