Vivegam:
Review: An overboard spy-cum-family drama
Rating: 2.75/5
#Highlights:-
● Thala Ajith's performance and Vivek Oberoi's menacing act
●Action sequences
●Songs
●Family emotions
●Ajith and Kajal Aggarwal's chemistry
#Drawbacks:-
●Kajal Aggarwal's performances in climax
●Predictable plot
●Loud background score
●Overboard in Logics
#Cast performances:-
Thala Ajith has done a commendable job and his dedication is seen in a song (Thalai Viduthalai) and action sequences. Vivek Oberoi is menacing in his Tamil debut and has done a good job. Kajal Aggarwal is homely as a kind-hearted loving wife of Ajith's character (A.K), but her performances in the climax is silly but somewhat energetic. Akshara Hassan is ok in her role. Karunakaran, Sharath Saxena, Bharath Reddy, Aarav Chowdhary, Serge Crozon-Cazin and Amila Terzimehic have done their roles well.
#Technical aspects:-
Vivegam is inspired from several spy films and also powered with Ajith's stardom and masala elements like friendship and family emotions, but the loud background score and predictable plot makes it a somewhat boring-cum-engaging plot. Logic shouldn't be expected from films, but Vivegam goes overboard in logics. The editing and cinematography should be expected from a spy film and it is top notch. Anirudh's soundtrack is really superb but his background score is loud and earsplitting.
Coming to direction, Siva has done a commendable job and attempts to create an international action thriller, but uses Ajith's starpower and makes it partly engaging.
#Conclusion:-
A partly-engaging spy film for Ajith's fans, but a decent family entertainer.
