One of the most heartwarming/heartbreaking joyful movies I've ever seen. Definitely one of Kevin Costner's finest performances, right up there in the top five, in my opinion. I consider myself somewhat of a movie buff and a definitely an aficionado, with a collection of over 600 movies myself. The casting (David Rubin/Debra Zane) was top notch, first rate and just expertly done! The way the characters blended and and melded in with each other and they're surroundings and the story, just brilliant! A lot of the supporting cast was not well known if at all, in fact one of the kids, (Charlette Julius) or main characters, did this movie and I couldn't find any other movies she'd ever done before or since but but somehow they found her and she was perfect. So they really did an excellent job of ferreting out and finding the right people for the parts that they were playing. Lexi Randall was born to play her part and Elijah Wood was born an actor which I had no idea about till I saw this movie. I knew he was a very talented actor but I did not know he was that an actor from birth, really, very talented, just all of the characters were great but those few just really stood out. So if if you're reading this or you're looking at maybe watching this movie, stop thinking! Buy it, $8.98 on Amazon, way cheaper to rent and stream, however you do it, just do it!

This is quite literally one of the worst movies I have ever seen, also most definitely the worst telling of Bass Reeves story imaginable! Bass Reeves was an incredible Lawman and just a solid character of that era and his story is a fascinating one. What they did with this movie I would consider almost criminal, definitely liable in a civil way, in a court of law, If he were still alive to take that action , just horrible! It's only redeeming quality is the cinematography. It was done so poorly in every way that a movie can be done poorly. I am a movie buff, I have a collection of over 600 movies. And it is my opinion if you see this and the trailer looks appealing, run,,, don't walk away!

This definitely is a movie for people who are movie Buffs, in my opinion. It it starts out really slow and doesn't take off for a good half an hour, maybe even more. But at some point if you are a movie fan and you're a fan of good performances, you'll want to watch this one all the way through. Excellent performances by John Cusack, Brendan Gleeson and Samuel Hazeldine. Really ends up turning out to be a good story, just recognize for all of you people who are familiar with Edgar Allan Poe's writings that, that's what it is. It's a story and a good one. How he died? No one actually knows. Some say it was a brain tumor, some say he drank himself to death, I even saw one speculation that he died from carbon monoxide poisoning from spending too much time inside from candles, fires and whatnot. In that era, more than half the population would've an early death if that were the case. There was another one that supposed he died from rabies. But the truth is no one actually really knows. So it was a good story with an actually good supposition of how he died and in this movie Buffs opinion, it made for a good story with a good ending.

Excellent movie! In fact it's one of the better movies I've seen this year. That's saying a lot for me because I am somewhat of an aficionado, I have over 500 movies myself. Mr. James Caan, what else can you say but that name, he's been huge in Hollywood and beyond for so many years he's an icon he's an inspiration he's Larger than Life, and he will be missed so so much. For this to be his last movie in his last days on this planet just makes it that much more special, he also nailed his part and was the consummate thespian to the very last minute. Rest in peace Mr Cann there will never be another.🙏🙏🥂 Pierce Brosnan was a huge surprise, he totally lost the British accent and although he hasn't spent quite enough time down south, he really pulled it off with the accent and Straight Talk, already a big fan but he really nailed that part and gave a stellar performance! . Morena Baccarin, whom I have not seen much of in fact this was the first movie I noticed her in although she's been in others that I've seen. Charming, poised, charismatic, not to mention beautiful as well as a fantastic actor, she nailed that part right down to the very subtle nuances. If you like good movies, good cinematography, Heroes that you love, villains that you love to hate, surprise twists and turns and a lot of action, with a lot of heart, you've gotta see this movie👍👍

If you have the opportunity to see this movie, don't! If someone invites you over just for a casual movie night to watch this movie, run away, do not walk! I have no idea what the producers of this movie were thinking, Nicolas Cage is one of them by the way. I am a movie collector and somewhat of an aficionado with over 500 titles. This is absolutely one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life, I'm 68. It never comes together, at no point is there any kind of cohesive plot or storyline other than this man entering people's dreams. And then it ends like a dream, it's just over. This movie was not worthy of the talents of Nicolas Cage and I'm sure he does not feel that way. But as someone who's seen every single one of his movies at least twice I can say with certainty and as somewhat of an expert, this movie Harkins the expression that's, "1 hour and 42 minutes of my life that I'll never get back!" 👎👎

Really good movie! Kind of corny with knights in Shining Armor, Golden Palaces and all the rest which I'm a real sucker for, overall a very good watch. Incredible special effects and cinematography! A transformative performance by Millie Bobby Brown, I hope and anticipate seeing much more of her in the coming years, I can only expect for her skills to increase and become more diverse as she grows. A Very capable and charismatic actress. She will do big things. Ray Winstone as always, delivers just a great performance. Although I'm a fan of Angela Bassett, she hasn't had any Shakespearean training, still she pulled it off. Robin Wright nails her character as someone you're gonna love to hate. Very good performance also a great Supporting Cast like Nick Robinson. If you love movies as I do, I have over 500 in my collection and Counting. If you like stories of Old With Dragons and Knights in Shining Armor and fantastical events This is one you're gonna wanta see👍👍

Well I guess I've seen worse movies! Joel Kinnaman was one of the producers, Joel's a fine actor but when they cross that line between actor and producer, it's like a good cook wanting to own a restaurant, more often than not it does not work out! Definitely a fine actor and he should stick to acting. Such is the case in Silent Night. I won't ruin it for somebody who still wants to watch it but it felt very far short of what they were going for I think. A lot of bang bang shoot em but for fans of gun battles that are ridiculous with lots of blood of course, car chases which are just like the last one you saw it'll probably have appeal. Similar to John Wick 4, I got through 20 minutes of that, actually come to think of it, it was more like 15. Yeah just a very strange movie. I personally would not watch it again but that's just me.

The acting and the cast and characters in this movie are brilliant, without exception, right down to characters outside of the main story. But this is one of the most tragic heart-rendering movies I've ever seen in my life and I've seen literally thousands of movies, I collect them and I have over 500. Even though I have to give it a four stars because of the acting and the authenticity of the story and the characters. I just can't wrap my head around why the energy of doing something that's just so absolutely tragic? I just really didn't see the point to such a tragic-freaking-story, where it is just one tragedy after the next and heartbreaking circumstances for almost everyone involved in the story! Just be prepared for that. Ben Kingsley is as usual perfecto, and as I said the acting and the characters are flawless, Jennifer Connelly gives the best performance of her life (in my opinion) Ron Eldard (Sleepers)was spot on for his part, Shohreh Aghdashloo, absolutely shines. But at the end of the movie I was left scratching my head and wondering what the hell would motivate someone to make such a tragic story where it has absolutely no silver lining?! The only answer I have is that, it's about real life with no sugar coating, I mean none! So as I say the acting is flawless the storyline is on point from beginning to end but if I had to do it again I would not have watched that movie. Just the pure raw unadulterated tragedy of it, I'm still shaking my head the next day, why?!

I have only one word to describe this movie, RIVETING! Absolutely riveting! This in my opinion is Joaquin Phoenix's finest performance and I've seen most of his movies. Not to mention that I'm somewhat of an aficionado, I'm sure there are people out there with a collection much bigger than mine, but I have around 500 movies and I've seen almost all of them. This movie if you're a movie lover will leave you sitting there waiting for your food to get done and it's getting cold because you don't want to get up to get it, at least that was my experience. I'm not familiar with Todd Phillips, but he should definitely get an Oscar for his directorial skills on this movie, and the casting by Shayna Markowitz, well hers is a name I'm looking forward to hearing about for many many years to come. The casting was spot on and perfect, what a crew! I mean from the directors, producers, right down to the cameraman in the set painters, just an incredible group of people that put on an incredible movie! You probably can't tell by my words but I was quite taken with it. If you love movies and you love incredible acting, you have to see this movie. But, get your popcorn and your drinks before the movie starts because you're not going to want to walk away from it. Dusty
