This is an ok movie, it really portrays in a very stark way the reality of slavery and the way they had to live. A lot of it was quite unrealistic though, for example a black man striking a white man during those days, first it wouldn't have happened and secondly he would have been executed on the spot. Also they did the entire film in this kind of gray amberish hue, it's 2025, I want to see movies in vivid color, a lot of this, in fact most of this movie takes place in the swamp which is not a nice place to be but it's a beautiful place to look at and you miss so much of that with this thing they did with the color. Excellent performance by Will Smith and Ben Foster as always, although the script left much to be desired, unfortunately for Mr Smith, this film was released a few months after he assaulted Chris Rock in front of the world. So he lost all his sponsors the public at large was disenchanted with him and the film was a box office flop. In spite of everything about a swamp that is dangerous and an average person would not want to be there it's beautiful to look at which should have been the redeeming quality of the movie, but you miss a lot of it because of the way the movie is filmed. I give it two stars, one for the acting and one for the way they portrayed that time period, but that's as far as I can go. I like to consider myself an aficionado, having a collection of around 700 movies myself. But this one just didn't do it for me

This is an amazing movie about an amazing true story! Proof again that some things in life just cannot be explained, there's no reason other than the universe wanted that young man alive,,, for him to be alive!? The acting was intense, is the only word that comes to mind and I have a lot of words. Woody Harrelson was, well, it's Woody Harrelson at his best. A couple of really surprise breakout actors, that I suspect, (hope) we're going to see a lot more of in the future. Simu Liu, (David) gave an intensely focused, emotional, stellar performance. Finn Cole also gave a Stellar performance as the actual Chris Lemons, and of course Cliff Curtis did not disappoint, he never does. All in all just a great cast, great movie, a hard to believe true story. If you're on the fence take it from someone who considers himself somewhat of an expert, I have a collection of over 700 movies. See this movie!

This is a deeply moving, visually stunning, movie with a solid cast of characters the likes of which is rare to find in one movie. This is without a doubt, in my opinion, Christian Bale's finest performance as well as Wes Studi. The compliment of those two people as the lead characters could not possibly have been better. Beyond those two, it would be hard to single out anyone actor as having given outstanding performance because they were all so good at their parts, Rosemond Pike who has never been one of my favorite actors or actresses if you're old as me but she gives a stellar and stunning performance in this movie. This movie will have you cursing with anger in some parts and weeping at the sadness and Injustice in other parts. It's a movie of loss, a movie of people from different worlds coming to understandings. Anything I say here just won't do the movie Justice if you have to see one movie this year, see hostiles. Speaking of weeping, the end scene which is one of the best I've ever seen will leave you with your fist in the air, tears in your eyes.

So I know this movie got some pretty bad reviews! But I'm telling ya as a movie aficionado and a collector of movies, I have a collection of over 700 which is not a huge collection but I think it gives me leave too express my opinion and have it taken seriously or be valid. This is a good movie, if you can't stomach violence, this is not the movie for you! But just a good story all around. So from what I'm seeing Clint Eastwood was a good actor, I really great actor and producer director, but his offspring as far as Scott and Francesca, although I thought she was very good in this movie I will just say the apples fell pretty far from that tree with those two. However she pulled it off in grand style, she did a really good job! Lots of twists and turns, just when you think one thing is happening and it's over and everything happens and it's back on. Trust somebody who knows movies and the cinema, see this movie. If you like westerns, if you can deal with as I said a lot of violence, a lot of blood and gore!

So I am here just to warn you, Just-Don't - Do-it! This was the movie that could have been. If they had a plot, if they had a story, if it had a direction, and the ending, fugetaboutit! One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time and I've seen many.I have a collection myself of over 600 movies and I am telling you once again! Just-don't-do-it!!! Guy Pearce and Joe Pantoliano, two very good actors, two of my favorites but I can only imagine they caught em between gigs on this one cuz damn!👎👎

This is absolutely one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen! And I'm a collector, I have almost 600 movies myself. It's a shame when people like Sylvester Stallone have reached the age where they're no longer suited for the parts that they have been playing and they like to play A real good example of that is Clint Eastwood in his last movie, cry Macho. I think if Sylvester Stallone would like to keep acting and obviously he does, he should pick movies that don't require him to be a big badass, because he just can't pull it off anymore. Still, if you just got off work like I did, and you're looking to waste 89 minutes like I was, while I sip on a cold Budweiser, it'll work!

So this movie's been around for almost 25 years. I have seen it myself no less than five times. This is a different kind of action movie. It's at a very very emotion-filled movie with lots of moments of tenderness, and love shared between the different players. If you like action, you like drama, you like a love story, this is definitely a movie you're gonna wanta see. Just a caveat, I am an aficionado, I have a collection of over 600 movies myself if that counts for anything.

This is a really good movie, I am somewhat of an aficionado, I have a collection myself of over 600 movies. So I know from where I speak. Some people panned the special effects but I thought they were pretty damn good. I mean it is what it is, it's a Marvel movie it's a fantasy it's a superhero movie, trust me that special effects were good! I was really surprised it came out so quickly in Netflix but there it is. The casting was really well done and I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more from Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Russell Crowe of course, welll, nuff said? For people who like these kinds of movies, Adventure movies, it'll keep you on the edge of your seat. I like the ending, they set it up very nicely for a sequel. If they take the time and spend the money do it right it will be very good and I'll look forward to seeing it. If you're a Marvel fan, an adventure fan a superhero fan, gotta to see it. 👍🏻👍🏻

this movie is so bad that I had to stop what I was doing and recuperate, then write this review to warn other people off. Do not, see this movie.!. One of the worst movies I have ever seen with,,, absolutely Without question the worst ending I have ever seen in my life, ever!!! Hard to believe that's Clint Eastwood's son, that Apple felt pretty far from the tree and in my humble opinion. As a somewhat of an expert on the subject of cinema, having over 600 in my collection, again it is my humble opinion that Scott Eastwood should find a different line of work.

The kindest thing I can say about this movie is that it's just really really poorly done, this is not a good movie. It's the opposite of good. Denzel Washington's performance was mediocre at best. He was just playing himself without all the ass kicking and tough guy moves he's known for. I was surprised to see that they actually mentioned the word Oscar while referring to this movie, as if! What possessed him to take on this role is beyond me, I have to imagine he's got enough money that he didn't have to make this movie, it was just a sad performance and he was not the right person for that part, full, stop! I am what I would consider a movie or Cinema aficionado I have a collection of movies in excess of 600. So I consider myself somewhat of an authority on what a good movie is or is not. The special effects were good, but the way they used them was ridiculous. Some movies just shouldn't have a sequel, this is one of them. I just cannot see a way that you can make a sequel to that movie that was as good or better, it was an outstanding piece of Cinema, one of a kind and, they should have left it at that. And some actors should know when to walk away from a script and this is one of Mr. Washington of whom by the way I am a huge fan but this just left me shaking my head, and asking the question why, why Mr. Washington?! If you think you'd like to see it, I would definitely wait till it comes out and streaming or is free. Personally I'd be hard-pressed to watch it again.
