I live in Memphis. I have friends who are actually in the show. I work in a Memphis law firm. I really want this show to work.
I love my hometown being one of the show's main characters.
I love the cast-I would watch a series that has Jimmy Smits narrating paint drying.
I have watched every episode. It breaks my heart to say it but this show is simply dreadful. The scenes of Memphis are authentic and awesome. But the writing is just awful. The lawyers are far too earnest, the scenarios are way too pat and frankly, the depiction of Memphians is simply too stereotypical. AND the Tennessee law they practice is often simply wrong. WRONG. Makes-my-teeth-itch kind of wrong.
The most compelling part of the show is the continuing story of George Bell. But they're about to ruin even that by adding a personal relationship with his attorney. Folks...that stuff really just doesn't happen.
The show has many of the right elements for great TV: good actors, good setting, interesting characters. It's sorely lacking in one area: good writers.
