This is the first time I have liked a movie better than the book it's based on. I read "Gone girl" a couple of months back and found it tedious, especially the first half of the books' narrative was just kind of rambling on when it should have been gripping (given the theme of the story). Surprisingly, it's different with the movie. It's like the director has abridged the book and edited it very precisely. The direction is brilliant and there's never a dull moment. In fact time flies by while this intelligently crafted movie keeps you in its grip for a full two and a half hours.

Grippy thriller, doesn't lose track of the plot till the end. The plot is unconventional but cleverly crafted with punchy cinematography. I liked this movie.

An Intimate, melancholic, subtle comedy on neglect and loneliness- nuanced and understated on the surface but deeply emotional and powerful. Ms Coppola just plays with your heartstrings :)

Yes it's about aliens coming to earth but don't expect slimy, creepy, evil beings hell bent on destroying every single thing that moves! Arrival is a subtle, nuanced, insightful- I'd even say spiritual look at ourselves and at our place in the greater scheme of things. Amy Adams, in the lead role is at the peak of her powers. Don't miss this gem of a movie.
