It’s very uninspired and falls flat in terms of both creativity and innovation. Despite the occasional catchy moments this albums a drab. It feels like an attempt to be edgy and avant-garde, but instead comes off as self-indulgent and directionless. The production is overcooked, with a bombardment of sounds that lack cohesion, leaving the listener feeling overwhelmed rather than intrigued. Gaga’s once impeccable vocal control now feels strained, drowning in unnecessary auto-tune and processing. The album’s concept (if there even is one) gets lost in a sea of experimentation (gone wrong) that doesn’t feel authentic. It’s as if Gaga is trying to reinvent herself without a clear vision, and in doing so, she loses the essence of what made her a cultural force in the first place. Mayhem is an album full of noise, but ultimately, it’s forgettable.
