prequel to "X" ti west's film about a farm girl (who's husband is fighting in 1918 WW1) wants to break into show business and be a burlesque girl and escape her domineering mother and invalid father finds everything starts to backfire on her and doesn't go the way she hoped then she breaks down and goes on a killing spree. good thought out movie but a bit of a slow pace mia goth is great and beautiful as pearl (kinda mary poppins and lizzie borden put together). not for all tastes but a good. gory zeitgeist horror film for that crowd. a 8 out of 10.
