This movie was well done and had a lot of heart. The historical premise behind it really opened my mind to a new perspective- from Los Angeles' longtime blend of Mexican and American history and being besieged first by Americans, and now, so many years later by Mexican nationals bringing crime and drugs from the South. Mind blown a bit because every character is not a stereotypical barrio Mexican thug. Great story, the stuff that normally takes center stage in these type of movies took backseat to the cultural storyline and background of the characters. Yes, they are all hispanic, no they aren't all racist stereotypes. It had all the duality that I love in a good story- from George Lopez's career police Captain on the side of Law to Marco Rodriguez' vigilante barrio warrior-poet- it was definitely a good blend of perspectives. Not everyone will enjoy it especially if they go in with their political blinders on- but I really dug the hell out of it.
