In a world where everyone is forced to applaud the Emperor's new clothes, it is truly a relief to see people with the courage to point out the Emperor is actually naked.

The fantasy is not the story of corruption and rot from the highest order of government down through all our institutions, but that a moral person could take a stand and win. I found this production bitter sweet, a swan song for the principles the USA and free democracies once stood for. That America is worth fighting for.

I hate broadway musicals and always avoided Cats as the quintessential example of theatre pap. BUT loved this movie. Hilarious. Loved the CGI tails and ears. Corden was delicious. Dame Judy Dench purring in a basket is an inspiration. Nobody takes themselves too seriously in this movie and therein lies its charm. Except for Hudson, whose purrformance is legendary. I'm not surprised mainstream types don't get it.
