As a biopic, this is a solid 5 stars. I knew a bit about mother Cabrini, but this story really pounded home the message of what it took for a woman to make the changes that she did. It was a heavy emphasis on feminism and women as well as human rights and human dignity. But it’s not just a bio pic… Especially when you’ve gone to the AMC and it cost $12.50 before taxes for a senior ticket… But it’s also a film and I just found it to be too heavy-handed and in your face. there were no subtleties in the script, even when subtlety would’ve said it better. The soundtrack was just overbearing, even though it had lovely operatic & Italian music, but it dominated so strongly again without subtlety or nuance. So as a story, that should be told I give it 5 stars. as a movie, I give it 3. Audiences that are more interested in the message. Will rave about this movie. Audiences that watch movies with a critical eye for the artistry will give it lower reviews. I do want to say that it’s worth seeing if, for no other reason, then to know this story.
