Like a few others on this string of reviews, I had read Eric Metaxas' book "Bonhoeffer" before I saw the movie. The book is excellent, and the movie carries the story and raw emotion perfectly to the screen. If you haven't read the book, I'd recommend it as a more complete retelling if this amazing life. But, the movie is one of the best renditions of a great book I've seen on-screen. The core of his life: being willing to sacrifice everything for the lives of strangers plays out painfully, passionately...completely. Could I follow this example?
