No 4 in the series and finally some back story to Slade and Aren, so it slowed the story down. The sexy bits were over long and rather unnecessary. One would have got the message across, no need for the rest and increasing kinkiness. The main theme of the books was an abusive relationship which displayed coercion and control, which Aren escaped from. But the sex scenes displayed control and power imbalance with a faint cry of 'this was my choice and feels safe'. Didn't sound like it to me. Too many unanswered questions, not enough plot progression and an uncertain ending. Is there a no 5 or do we imagine the ending? Other than that, fairly entertaining.
