I'm actually surprised the reviews are so low considering I've seen worse movies with higher averaged ratings. That said, the film definitely dropped in the second half where it seemed to go for a vague, ominous ending but instead came across as scattered and preachy. The religious symbolism was actually quite fun, until the protagonist turned from Jesus figure to Icarus metaphor, and the movie became a criticism of tech. A valid criticism, but well-worn and rarely handled correctly. I would have preferred if the film had stayed within a religious context, as religion is becoming antiquated in this modern day. Contrasting it to tech would have been an interesting take, but definitely not in the condescending, over-simplified tone the movie takes on by the end. Overall, it was a decent watch to kill time, though I wouldn't recommend it to others.
