Was not a fan in the beginning because while i found the concept interesting the characters were so unlikable from the start. i felt pretty over the miserable quirky and (honestly pretty gross) protagonist (and genuinely every other character encountered in the town she lives in). i will say i started to come around halfway through and i really enjoyed the ending and overall message. i found the protagonists exploration of herself and her past triggered by a significant romantic encounter to be cathartic and relatable. unique writing, interesting enough to finish quickly.. all in all i find the book to be much too overrated based on other reviews, but there’s a special quality about the story that seems to resonate with readers, and it won me over too.
