I liked the movie. I really did. The acting was very good, especially from Ralph Fiennes and Dominique Crenn outdid herself with the meals in the movie. But I find it hard to give it five stars because it shoves some things in our faces and we are not supposed to complain about it, just like the patrons of the restaurant. To begin with, everyone dies. So I expected everyone to die. But there had to be reasons for the antagonist to kill everyone. I feel that reason was not elaborative enough.
Again, I did not see why the woman from that old couple, had to die, and the main protagonist got to live because there was really no wrong she did from whatever little backstory they showed. How does someone who had no student loans get to die? was that all it took?.
I knew by the second course of the meal that Margot would get lucky one way or another because they focused on her a bit too much. I thought this movie was branching out of the cliche narrative of the good looking damsel always getting favoured and rescued but in the end it looks a bit too predictable and plot hole-y.
