The book unfolds slowly to reveal a rich, thoughtfully written story about relationship, culture, religion, and land- triumph and struggle. The Sami component is very interesting to me. I haven’t found many novels that explore this time period ans area of the world.
The characters come alive as the story unfolds. It does contain a great deal of tragedy as historical struggles typically do. Worth reading.
