Overall I enjoyed it. I have read the first 3 books of the series and this season included elements of all 3. So be prepared for some possible spoilers if you're reading the books simultaneously.
I think if I hadn't read any of the books I would have been a little lost. Some key plot points and world building elements are delivered in one liners so you have to pay close attention.
Some of the cinematic changes I totally understand, the books are pretty long winded and changes needed to be made for this format. Some however I did not like. Do not expect it to follow the books except in the broadest sense.
The visuals are great, beautiful! The acting is so-so, but I think the directing may be the problem not the actors themselves. Most of the main characters seemed to have only one expression.
I think it's worth a watch if you like this genre, but if major changes to the story are going to bother you, or a "woke" angle on race, gender and/or sexuality will upset you, or if Thom Merrilin is your favorite character (what were they thinking?) maybe skip it.
