OK... this is not a movie that is intended to be intellectual, life-changing or award-winning.
But, it did make me forget about the real world for a couple of hours and I caught myself smiling quite a few times!
It's a far-fetched storyline offering some escapism from day-to-day life. An easy watch and I enjoyed letting the storyline wash over me to see where it would lead.
Sam Rockwell and Bryce Dallas Howard are not the typical Hollywood on screen couple and I did struggle to see any 'spark ' between them on screen. However, individually, I thought they were great. I loved that the casting director went for 'real' looking people in the roles Sam and Bryce played (as opposed to Cruise and Diaz in Night & Day). Bryce... well... I have to say it... she was beautiful and it was lovely not to have a stick thin actress in the main role. Let's have more normal sized leading ladies.
Cavill really isn't a big part of the movie (and he was brave accepting that hair style!). But there's a teaser scene during the end credits that may lead elsewhere 😉
Enjoy the movie, suspend your belief and detach yourself from reality for a few hours.
I loved it.
