Wade Garrets the best, and so is the original Roadhouse. This is a poor reimagining that entirely misses the point. Dalton was the cooler, an experienced bouncer who knew that nobody ever wins a fight and taught the other bouncer to avoid violence where possible. He was calm, stable (right up until he rips the guys throat out) and strategic. This guy is a suicidal, murdering ufc fighter with no bouncing experience and seemingly no interest.
There is zero character development through the film. One minute the surfer dude young bouncer is getting black eyes, the next he takes a guy with a knife out because Dalton says 10 words to him. The story and direction was lazy and lame.
Connor McGregor wasn't bad. Jakes acting felt flat as a tack. No other character was memorable. And where was Wade Garret anyway?
The original gave us some timeless rules:
1. Never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected.
2. Take it outside.
3. Be nice. Until its time to not be nice.
I can't be nice to this version.
