It was very funny and entertaining but I didn't agree with it at all. The people I meet are not ruder or less considerate than they used to be, I don't think anything has really changed much in that regard. I think Lynne has rose tinted glasses about the past

I mistakenly thought it would be about genetic science. But I persevered until page 187 when a paragraph which showed the childish and cowardly central character's contempt for "white people", and that he thought all "white people" were racists, made me see red. I put the book down in shock, and didn't pick it up again except to throw it in the dustbin. The plot of the book is clearly semi autobiographical so I think it is reasonable to assume that the attitudes of the central character are similar to those of the author?

It started well and going backwards in time was a good idea. I thought he got a bit tired towards the end. But mostly good. Avoid the epilogue though, his authoritarian, do as I say because I'm a scientist, tendencies start to show and he praises the repulsive and shameful "covid" restrictions as a model for the future - nasty!
