Neither great nor terrible.
What made Ragnorok really tick was its sense of fun and clever use of humor. Here the humor is more frequent (and less funny, like screaming goats isn't funny the first time, never mind 50 times) and Korg that drove a lot of the humour in Ragnorak is more featured here, but here felt inessential and didn't get a single laugh. Also in the mix are more serious moments in the film that doesn't feel earned when the film already feels like a parody of itself, which leaves the experience feeling uneven. In some shots the effects don't look finished suggesting that they were rushing this film out in time for the summer.
The pros unfortunately don't last too long, Christian Bale is absolutely fantastic in the scenes he's in as the villain, but he's only really in the film collectively for like 15 minutes, Russell Crowe as Zeus chewed the scenery but his appearance was sadly minimal. What makes this 3 stars over 2 is the scenes that feature Thor and Jane.
I really wanted to enjoy this, I was anticipating this because of Taika Waititi returning to direct, but he feels like he's on autopilot here, and I'd be hard pressed to watch this again over Ragnorok.
(The MCU is oversaturated post Phase 3, too many TV shows and films out at the moment which I feel is diluting the overall quality, only really enjoyed Loki, Shang Chi and No Way Home, much like rupaul these people need a well earned break)
