Just plain dumb. A woman who is purportedly a brilliant scientist (Lopez) becomes frustrated, cries, falls apart in every crisis and in no way evidences the kind of training a person in that position would have had. Her inability to cope with any and every challenge she faces is tedious at best. The role would be better suited to an untrained adolescent.
