I like this movie because it gave a different approach to some very important beliefs giving way to sizable issues that families deal with inside their own world. Maybe not a father believing in raising his children in the woods exactly but having a family member with strong beliefs in what he’s doing is right and the rest of the family thinks he’s a bit crazy and selfish for doing things his way. This movie was acted beautifully by all the actors of course Viggo Mortensen is impeccable but you can feel the angst in all of them struggling to express their point of view and the pain that it so often will bring because the divide exists. Personally I was relieved to see the Dad succumb, if you will, to providing a little house putting a roof over his family’s head and letting these kids out to school. The Grandfather had a strong point BUT on the flip side, this man had incredibly smart, sharp and well read children putting every other child their age and most adults to shame because of the knowledge and power they possessed from being taught so well already.
Even if the classroom was a patch of grass, a load of trees and the sound of nature.
2 different approaches to life. Both having their pros and cons.
Which one did you choose?
