Three episodes in, Iโve spent 95% of that time desperately hoping that one particularly toxic character die a horrible and imaginative death. Disappointed so far on that front. And he is the poster child for a bunch of sullen, pessimistic and self centred morons. If a real rig was run with such a crew, led by such a passive and impotent boss, the rig would be a spectacular bonfire and such an outcome might just be a blessed relief from these fictional idiots.
What stuns me most is the complete inability for any of them to string together potential what-if scenarios in moments of crisis and actually be prepared for them. The main antagonist (wait, other than the toxic guy) is incoherent and babbling and the urge to reach through the screen and slap them is tangible and potentially cathartic.
This series had potential to be a claustrophobic (in the middle of the ocean), tense thriller. I now sit here contemplating whether the risk of watching the rest of the season has any rewards but stabbing myself with a fork is looking likely much more gratifying.
