I like the film, but I have to read the script first and then watch it on a pirate website regularly on my smart TV (which left me baffled as to how that is even possible) because it is not available where I am located.
Anyway, the writer cut out some perfect scenes from the final product. Such a shame, so the movie would have been more powerful and easier to follow and comprehend.
The one problem with the story, given that there is no plot per se, is that it leaves us questioning whether we got the writer's intention right or wrong. It is ok to leave the audience guessing, but technically, this is totally not needed here, in my opinion. If she had not left out certain scenes from the original script, there would be no doubt.
On the visual side, the film is superb, as this could have easily been the snippets from my holidays on the Adriatic coast, which makes the visuals universal to the Mediterranean peoples. What stuck in my mind is two people on the wooden dock sunbathing and the older guy doing funny push-ups.
Given the bad production of the movies today, stripped of all emotions or dealing in really base, basic and empty attempts at emoting the stories, this one is not a movie but a film, a portrait of a summer vacation in the life of a broken dad.
