The series seemed to start out pretty good with a raw, gritty disposition that appeared real and authentic. Now into the latest episode (I think number 6?), let’s call it the tornado episode…Has this turned into a soap opera about an 18 year old’s love interest with almost every random male character? I mean, she really out rode a Comanche brave? Anybody who has read Empire of the Summer Moon would know that’s nowhere near possible! And then in the same episode when they get into the fight with the cattle rustlers and she is chased down easily with a 200 yard head start! OK that makes sense, maybe Lightning had to take a dump, I don’t know?? Everybody was instructed and panicking to take off their horse saddles before the tornado but she didn’t and it was no big deal, she found Lightning first fully saddled and pretty, OK that makes sense as well… She sure got over her ‘widow in the mourning’ faze quickly - to turn around and flirt with the new cowboy and then runoff with the Comanche, followed by an impromptu tender moment where he gave her a Comanche name and she gave him a tiny lock of hair that he turned into a horse sculpture! Gimme a break. Oh and let’s not forget the tornado kiss! Lol, ridiculous, you’re losing me whoever wrote the script. It had a lot of potential and now it’s all about an unbelievable jaunt through the plains through the eyes of a overly idealistic yet valiantly tough girl who can’t seem to keep it in her pants! I’m really laughing at any people that continue to think it’s that great. A shoot happy (where are they getting all this ammo?), dwindling accuracy of historical details and an oddly white toothed cast of stars is all it really takes to get the affection of an American audience I guess.
