Audrey Truschke an American author has done an excellent job in bringing facts and truth out about Emperor Aurangzeb in her book. Her research was based on actual corrospondence, letters, historical writtings of the time, travellers observations, many of which were in persian. Emperor Aurangzeb treated all his subjects equally, regardless of religion, caste, creed or colour. His administration had 60 % hindus and GDP was 35 % of world GDP. Emperor Aurangzeb ruled the entire South Asian sub continent. Yet when he passed away, he owned only a sword, shield, 40 prayers caps and 20 prayer beads that he made for the poor. At his funeral those who carried his body to the grave were a Shia, a sunni, a hindu, a jain, and a sikh, Generals and leaders who voluntarily came, such was the respect and love they had for this great man
