I don't understand why Netflix would adapt a book with historical figures and content and turn it into a DEI mess.
I love period dramas, but I love the fact that they follow and honor its past. You cannot change history.
But, of course, Hollywood can always fictionalize anything, that's true. (And the author must have agreed to it.) But as a lover of history, I don't much care for that.
It's a shame because if they had followed the book it would have been magical. But unfortunately they had to ruin it in this Era of DEI.
I'm grateful all the period dramas dating back to this one followed its rich history. ๐
