There are a lot of people posting reviews of the Civil War they expected - a film apparently about who is right and who is wrong in the current US political landscape, about how a war could happen - instead of the actual film.
Everyone knows how a war could happen - that’s not an interesting question. And pretty much everyone has made up their minds about who is right or wrong - this movie is unlikely to change anyone’s mind on that.
This movie is about what a second US civil war might look like, and why it should be avoided. About the deep uncertainties that even journalists would feel in such a mess. It is immersive, not analytic. If you want a US Game of Thrones, this is not the movie for you. If you want a well made cautionary tale, this is it.
