Superb book from Charles L Grant in which a small American valley community is gradually being bought back, legally, by the Native American people it was taken from. This doesn’t sit well with the more racist white people in the town, who start intimidating and then assaulting the Native Americans. To protect themselves, the Tribe’s female shaman conjures a supernatural guardian- a gigantic, human-sized Eagle. Initially just intending to scare the racists, the creature instead takes advantage of the shaman’s failing health and starts shedding blood- and soon it doesn’t care of the lives it takes are White or Red… Creepy, subtle, slow burn terror.

Superb vampire novel by actor/artist/writer Tatum, that brings about a refreshingly different vampire experience and mixes astonishing imagery with ghastly horror and venom-black humour. Absolutely brilliant.
