After seeing it opening night, I thought I needed to reassess my disappointment. I watched it a second time tonight. Although it was better the second time, it’s so sad to see a franchise played out this poorly. Moneypenny and Q were solid. But M was portrayed as some kind of reckless victim or poor execution. The woman playing 007 was a pathetically poor actor. No charisma. No presence. And to see Bond beg was the last straw to a poor story.
The move feels like it’s 4-6 fragmented segments pasted together with not so great music. Even the multiple villains are not even larger than life. That’s hard to do with some of these elite actors like Rami and Waltz. The ending, after a second time to digest, makes me sick to consider the people who are at the strings of this legacy completely forgot why people love James Bond. No humor. No innuendo. Not even a tinge of over-the-top machismo. Seemingly abandoned for some silly reason as to pacify a bunch of jealous, angry and empty execs trying to pacify some quota of how genders, race and tradition redefine equity.
Not sure if there is a next time for me when it comes to a Bond movie.
