This movie rewrites history to replace a man with a woman. It further changes the feats of bravery that character did to be even greater from what were doing in real life. It is not necessary to create a deceptive account of history in order to make a movie about women doing something great. In so doing, the script writer has diminished the real accomplishments of real women. It'd be one thing if there was some legitimate reason for writing the plot this way, but it seems quite apparent (based on various statements in interviews) that the entire reason was because the writers thought the accomplishments of women in the real world were not sufficiently great, so they had to add some fictional accomplishments to make up the difference.
