A lot of people were disappointed with this album at the time, but is is consistent as any other album the original line up made, like all their albums it is nothing like the one that went before it.
The are more creative ideas in one song than some people have on one album “Mandy” being a prime example.
The playing and singing is top notch, but sound wise this sounds a very compressed album (like Wing’s Venus and Mars) perhaps it was a fad of the time.
Godley and Creme left after this album, while the next two albums featuring Gouldman and Stewart had some high points, they missed the quirky touches of Godley and Creme, who’s own albums missed the reigning in of their excesses and pop sensibility that Stewart and Gouldman had.
This was the last truly great 10cc album, after Bloody Tourists there were some really poor albums that served a disservice to the band.
It is a great shame that none of the original albums have been released in surround sound, we can only hope.
