Where to start - simply, don’t bother trying to watch this. Even after reading the many reviews from multiple sources, I was determined to give this a watch with an open mind, but was SO bored after 50 minutes I started cooking a meal, checked all my emails and contemplated catching up on some chores. I’ve (embarrassingly) watched some dire movies right through to the end, but this one was so dreadful it was a toss up between committing hari kari whilst leaving it to play on, or turning it off and giving my pet rabbit an anal douche. My advice? Spend an uncomfortable evening with the in-laws you hate then overdose on laxatives, then spend the next 24 hrs on your in-laws toilet, rather than subject yourself to this heap of steaming guff.

One of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time. A waste of my time which could have been better spent staring at a blank screen! I honestly don’t have anything positive to say about this movie. Acting was hammy, story/plot confusing, generally lacking any cohesion, purpose, direction and the sound & lighting was poor; I was, quite frankly bored. I cannot think of any redeeming features about this movie. Don’t bother watching, even if just to see how bad a movie this is, because it’s not even “good because it’s SO bad!” Yawn.

One of THE most sumptuous, brilliant and thoughtful movies! The opening scene of decadence, debauchery, excess and other worldly opening scenes which feels like it goes on forever, sets the tone for the following 3 hours or so. Hilariously and disturbing juxtapositions abound relentlessly in a simultaneously entertaining, uncomfortable and downright wrong complexities of laughter, pity and, dare I proffer, sense of modern day ‘awareness’ of the grotesque that is “Hollywood and Celebrity”. Babylon is a feast yet also an assault on one’s senses. Stellar casting, (extras undoubtedly ensure superb atmospheric effects in literally every tiny aspect, with brilliant depth) whilst imbuing a tangible sadness and affection toward characters, ensure this is rightly so, served up as a masterpiece which viewers are able to relate to and abhor at the same time. If you may be hesitant about diving in and experiencing this movie, hesitate no more, but immerse yourself into all it has to offer. You will not be disappointed!
